autumn walk

On Saturday we went for a walk on Wimbledon Common which is huge and wild and you feel you've truly escaped the city when in the heart of it. We also walked around Cannizaro Park which is the garden of an old mansion turned hotel.

After being built in 1705, the owner let the house to wealthy London friends who were looking for a "country house within easy reach of the capital" - looking for an escape from “the hurries of business to draw their breath in a clear air and to divert themselves and their families in the hot weather” (Daniel Defoe).

We certainly experienced this 'escape' - it is beautifully kept and stunning at this time of year as all the trees turn bright fiery oranges, yellows and reds.

Great family pictures. How many do you have to take to get such good ones of Zach looking straight at the camera? He seems so good at looking into the lens even when there's no person there.
