new car seat

Here is Zach trying out his new car seat - he seems pretty pleased with it.

Having reached the grand old size of 10kg, he is now too heavy for his original baby one.

It arrived in a very exciting HUGE box...

teething and blocks

This poor little elf has been teething the past couple of days.

He still finds time to enjoy his new blocks that we got on Freecycle -

Freecycle is a network for people to exchange things they no longer need/want. It is organised by area so we get notifications of anyone in Wandsworth wanting to get rid of something or looking for something... there's a lot of good kiddie stuff bargains and plenty of rubbish too.

Zach likes to throw or push the blocks on to the kitchen floor and see which ones roll across it.

boxes

At the moment, Zach loves having a box of toys in front of him and slowly, item by item, emptying it.

He takes each toy out and plays with it for a bit

and then discards it and dives in for another.

He also enjoyed sitting in the boxes from our house move

eddie & seb come to visit

While Anita and Roo were in Perth last weekend, Tom, Eddie and Seb came to visit.

Seb loved giving Zach big hugs. Zach was pretty pleased with them too.

Sam and Tom took the boys to a little local playground...

Zach watched his older cousins with awe and delight.

8 month check

Yesterday Zach had his 8 month check up with the health visitor. She was very happy with his growth and development and he weighed in at 9.9kilos/21lbs and is 71cm long. He seems to enjoy going to the doctors and stares at them while they put things in his ears, pull on his legs etc.

little elf

We found a little christmas elf under our tree!

i think we surprised him!

Yesterday we had christmas party for a few of Zach's friends - all born within a month of each other. Zach wore his new elf costume that I made (inspired by a very cool book called Bend the Rules Sewing)

Zach was tuckered out (and wired!) at bed time, after all the excitement and wrestling with his buddies

a new home

in the new garden with mummy, playing with the leaves

a favourite spot - in front of the mirror with a few toys on the stool to reach for - toys seem to be far more desirable and interesting if there is some reaching and effort involved in aquiring them.

getting ready to go out - waiting for mummy to get her coat on and gather her things... ho hum. Zach is a very patient, content and easily entertained little boy.

when Zach is tired at dinner time, he likes to have a little rest between mouthfuls.

getting ready for bed - a favourite time of day with daddy - especially in the winter when it happens in front of the living room (electric) fire.

Zach is now sleeping through the night! Hooray! He has slept through every night for a week, waking up at 6:30/7am - we think he's got it!.. We are starting to feel slightly normal again after 8months of broken nights! Although Sam is pretty exhausted as he has been studying really hard and had his FINAL EXAM today for his Marketing course. He was pleased with how it went - he gets the result in February!

advent

Inspired by Design Sponge I decided to make an advent calender this year - using up lots of old envelopes, fronts of cards and scraps of paper (and some chocolate of course). Sam took some nice photos of it:
