thanks to some dear friends of ours (the prisks) i was able to do what one only dreams of and go to hmv, get a shopping basket with list in hand and wander around surrounded by thousands of albums to chose just what i wanted! i bought full-price albums which is always a luxury, and possibly a first for me?

i bought, and am now listening to, thom yorke's surprise solo album. a treat which shows just what he has been wanting to do since kid a. its superb. full of his haunting melodies and electro beats. i also bought the avalanches by sufjan stevens - a collection of outtakes and extras from the illinois album. and a johnny cash, the very best of the sun years (his first label and recording studio, also that of elvis and prior to that mainly black r&b, eventually influencing the likes of the beatles). as often is the way, we've yet to see walk the line. if there is hype around something i often need to wait until it has passed.

my senses are in overdrive as i am immersed in the sounds of thom and the smells of my darling wife's yummy cooking.
