We had an amazing week in Northern Ireland, visiting family and breathing in the fresh Irish air. We stayed with dear Aunt Martha in Bangor who is still as lovely as ever, if not a little forgetful! It was good to be there and help her out, although sometimes a little worrying when she got confused and upset. Becca also has a lot of family in Ireland, which is just amazing - here we are, an Aussie lad and an English/American lass meeting in London with family minutes away from each other in Bangor! Near to Aunt Martha is Becca's Aunty Freda and Roland and Liz. We had a lovely meal with Freda and Liz. In Holywood are the Eaves and we had a really fun night at Nigel and Anne's place with their great kids and Deidre and Tim and their daughter Ali. My cousin Glen took Becca and I and his girlfriend Emma out to a very cool American diner called Springsteens on the Lisburn Road in Belfast. It was great hanging out with them. We had a really fun day with Anne and Marshall going down to Newcastle for the day. All such wonderful people. Some photos to give a flavour (unfortunately we forgot to take the camera to the Eaves' and Freda's so we don't have any pics of those evenings.)

Becca, all the very best with your new job! seeing you with auntie martha shows how delightful you are in relating to elderly people, so i can imagine you thriving in this job!! i miss you both so and can't wait to see you in the land of Oz. Fuck Gazza, that's a fair dinkum beaut sheila you got yourself there. How's that new lime-green sheep of yours?
I believe it's indelicate to swear on blog, Shazza or no. I love that photo of A Martha on the couch, with a cuppa and the dog, with bone. Where did you eat out with her??
Its a great one with a martha in the couch isn't it - it captures something very normal. We went out to eat at Heatherleas - the bakery with a cafe at the back, just on the other side of the pres churh from the station.

We didn't get to go. We were going to go with Aunt Martha to her church on the Sunday, and it all got a bit messy/confusing so we didn't end up anywhere. I'd love to go some time though. Have you been?
Have never been there. Usually we go to one of the Bangor Ang Churches, tho' we went years ago to A Martha's Church. Chapel, rather. Rach & Syl were talking about the Bangor Abbey last night (we have the Bishop staying here for a week.) Columbanus went out from there, taking Christianity to Scotland, France, etc.
So lovely to see you with A Martha. I too love the one on the couch. It's a brilliantly composed photo and captures her so well - cup of tea, apron, dog.
Becca took that one - she is a very good photographer.
