If you don't have a car and you don't have one of these (as photographed on the steps to our flat), then i 'd highly recommend you get one for all your shopping needs, and for returning books to the library which is what i did today. No more struggling with hundreds of shopping bags digging in to your hand or shoulders and an aching back (or kidney in my case). sam and i got this groovy one in a pound-shop type place in Brixton (not for one pound.. but it was cheap for what it's worth in hassle-prevention!). and the funky design and lack of plaid means it is masculine enough for sam to use too!
what are these little gems called actually?.. "granny shopping trolley" probably isn't in the dictionary and doesn't seem particularly official... or P.C. for that matter. A "shopping trolley" is a metal trolley that you push around sainsbury's and a "granny trolley" just conjours up images of drunk granny's OR those gorgeous tea trolleys that my most wonderful grandmother brings us tea and scones and cake and pancakes on every afternoon when we're visiting. mmm.
i looked online and they are just "shopping trolleys" AND you can get square plaid ones with fold-out seats!! Wow - that'll be our next upgrade in life. or maybe by then it's time to get a car!
so while sam's at work, i read or run little errands in the morning and rest most of the afternoon (or research shopping trolleys as it happens today). the kidney is healing slowly but surely.. still pretty tired and sore. sam is taking expert care of me and not letting me do things like cooking or shopping (even with the help of the trusty trolley!)

yes, a problem with the nomenclature there. i think we need to name them ourselves. i don't really like the word "trolley", which suggests something you push, rather than pull. you normally pull carts don't you? it is a bit like a wheelie case - so maybe you could call it a "wheelie bag"? help! we urgently need some advertising bods to help us here.
