devon

two years married - it has gone by so quickly and wonderfully. we marked the occasion with five days camping in north devon - Exmoor. it was one of the most beautiful spots we have ever been to and apparently listed as one of the only truly tranquil places in England. Although don't tell anyone this secret or it will lose that unspoiled magical and wild beauty and tranquility. we were prepared for (or at least expecting) rain and grey skies .. not pleasant when camping and instead were blessed with five beautiful hot sunny days. This made the pleaseure of having hired a convertable totally worth it - and sam's boy-racer streak came out on the windy roads atop the coastal hill roads (i did have to close my eyes and lost the power of speech occasionally:)

it was a perfect time to camp - no crowds and lots of gorgeous new life - lambs, flowers, blossoms, calves and ducklings. we did a 12 mile hilly hike along the coast and valley creeks in magical forests stopping for a pint of local west country cider before attempting the last two miles back to our tent as the sun went down. the icey cold creek beside our tent soothed our aching feet and legs. we were hobbling the next day. other highlights were bathing in the icey-cold creek, horse-riding, frisbee, campstove cooking, campfire evenings and a whopping anniversary pub lunch at the highest point in Exmoor. mmm
