On Mum's penultimate day, Becca and I took the day off work to do a spot of sight-seeing. We went to the Holocaust exhibition at the Imperial War Museum (B&I got as far as Poland being invaded, so need to go back). We then had lunch there, joined by Anita, Eddie and Seb. Mum, B & I then walked to Waterloo and got the tube to Bank where we got onto the Docklands Light Rail (DLR). It is a brilliant little tube line that goes from the City out to the Docklands / Canary Wharf and beyond. It generally doesn't have a 'driver', and there are big windows at the front of the train so you can sit up there and watch as you speed through the tunnel and then out into the open near the Docklands. We went to the Docklands Museum in West India Quay. It is a great museum. Canary Wharf is incredible. It is like walking into a city in the States with its sky scrapers, clean, wide streets and busy, finance people. It was fun. It was good having Mum here to get us out and about to things like this!

it sounds funny to read that you guys walked to Waterloo... speaking of coming to Waterloo/Cedar Falls, are you guys still sort of thinking about possibly coming state-side this summer? that would be super-cala-frajilistic-expialadocious (i've never had to spell that before). you know, of course, that you have a place to stay if in fact you do decide to stop over in the huge metroplis that is the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area.

It Was a great London day. I have since read the autobiog of Louis heren, Times dep Editor in the 80's. He grew up a cockney in that very area. Love you.
will your employers see this blog and find out you took a day off to sight-see? i am paranoid
that was my immediate thought too anita. hopefully they won't put two-and-two together (IF for some reason they do look at our blog) or look at the comments! b
